About
Rhi (pronounced like the ‘re’ in re-do) is short for Rhiannon. The ‘B’ is short for Bowman.
Rhi B. is me, and I’m the only me I know how to be.
I am a goal oriented, ambitious young woman reaching for my stars. I am also a student, an intern, a newly wed, a progressive environmentalist, mother of two spoiled rotten cats, a political activist, a decedent of quiet, hardworking Midwesterners, daughter of a continent-hopping Air Force brat and step-daughter to a gun-totin’, paranoid good ‘ol boy… for starters.
I am working hard to get out of college (graduation is May 9, 2009) and on with the business of freelance writing. Trading words for money is a lifelong dream. So, after a few false starts and allowing life to rough me up a bit, I decided my time in this space is too short to dance around my bliss when I can fling myself headlong into it instead.
And, that’s what I do: I wake up each morning and fling. Sometimes things go splat and sometimes things stick. Meanwhile, I am learning as much as I can about the freelance life, hustling to keep up with my various assignments for local publications and learning as much as I can about digital photography, design (via Adobe’s CS4 Professional Suite), networking and marketing. (Thank goodness for all of those business classes at Auburn University at Montgomery and Georgia State University!)
This blog began in January 2008 as a project for an Independent Study class at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. (I made an ‘A’, thanks.)
As I am, this blog is evolving, and will continue to evolve, as my life and career flow into the future. There is no telling what will show up here. As I see it, every thing in my little world plays into my writing life so everything– and everyone– is fodder for blog fluff.
This is the truth from my perspective as I make my way down the path toward my goals. With that, here’s the disclaimer: There is no ill will intended.
