Hate and Politics

I can’t believe we haven’t evolved past this:

Liz Trotta joking about killing Obama on Fox News, right after calling him “Osama”:

KKK International Emperial Wizard, Ray Larson, says Obama will be assassinated if he is elected president:

Other groups are calling Obama the Anti-Christ, people are shouting about killing him at rallies… are you kidding me?

We claim we’re the most wonderful people on earth, we claim we’re the best country, and yet we allow this type of thing to go on without saying a word? Normally well-meaning religious people think this type of rhetoric and behavior is reasonable? Really?

Stand up to this, people. Stand up and remind everyone that these types of threats are not acceptable in a Democracy. Remind everyone that we are all equal in America.

Martin Luther King, Jr’s “I have a dream” speach:

“We shall overcome…”

I certianly hope so. I hope we overcome our ignorance, our bigotry, our hateful, unflattering ways. This is a democracy. This is a free country. This is supposed to be a loving, generous nation. While I will defend your right to say what you want, I also hope you will reach for higher ground and dream, with the rest of us, for better days.

Life is too short to hate, let’s work together to create a better world.
