We tried, and failed, to see Obama speak today in Charlotte. We arrived more than two hours before the event began, had to walk half an hour to find the end of one of the two lines to get in and then stood there. We stood there until the line made it to a house gracious enough to bring a T.V. outside so we could watch Obama speak. We were still more than five blocks away from the venue.

It was amazing to see so many people showing their support– peacefully.

North Carolina hasn’t gone “blue” since 1976. I believe the time before that was during the Kennedy-Nixon election. Many news outlets have us listed as a “pink” state.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the actual numbers with the state board of elections; there are 2.7 million registered Democrats in North Carolina and 1.9 registered Republicans.

After standing in line, for hours, today– I’m very hopeful this pink state will turn blue in November.

Update: Compare this experience to this video footage from a McCain-Palin rally in Pennsylvania

[...] or tried to attend– an Obama rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, a few weeks ago, I wrote here about how peaceful the people were. We didn’t get in because the venue was full. News reports [...]

I think you have a wonderfully enlightening web site and wish more people knew about it, so I’m going to give your web address to my circle of Obama/Biden supporters.
