This just in:

I’m a scholarship recipient!

Remember when I told you I was applying, back in April? (Detailed in this post: Is B for Begging?)

The scholarship, which is from a bank of scholarships offered through UNC Charlotte’s Office of Adult Students and Evening Services, was donated in memory of Susan Z. Ainsworth through the National Association of Women Business Owners.

I’ll receive $1,000 total; $500 for each of the next two semesters– which kicks ass since my federal financial aid has been cut by 80% for the 2008-9 academic year.

You know what this feels like? It feels like validation. It feels like all of my hard work, dedication, tears, homework riddled life– all of it– it feels like some one is paying attention, some one cares and some one wants to pat me on the back.

It has also brought a great organization to my attention, an organization I hope to participate in as soon as my focus shifts from school to my dreams– trading words for dollars.
